We are changing some of the information submitted about your venue and how some information is displayed. We're making these changes before a platform refresh that you will see later in the year (planned for October 2024).
Why change the information displayed?
We survey our couples and venues to understand what is important to them and then review our listings to ensure information is easy to access and isn't confusing or ambiguous. These changes are designed to help venues get the most from their listing.
The following is a brief explanation of the updates. Just so you know, the edit form itself explains all fields.
Tip: Legacy fields Your listing will not be updated automatically. We ask our venues to submit a new edit in order to provide the new and updated information. To help you with this, we have included a "Legacy fields" section with the information that needs to be moved. Once you have made the change, you must clear the legacy fields before submitting your edit. |
Update: Pricing
Pricing is the most important factor for couples searching for a venue; they need to know the price and what is included in the price. This is difficult because pricing differs depending on the time of year and the options selected. For this reason we have adopted the approach of answering this question: What is the lowest price we can get married at this venue?
Here's how we now display that information on our platform:
Starting Price: This is the lowest amount (in British Pounds) that a couple must pay to marry at the venue.
Price Summary: This is a standardised sentence to explain the price based on the new information you provide via our form. For example:
Price Explanation: This summarises the main items included in the price and a list of optional extras. We have replaced the free-text area because it has become confusing. Here's how the detailed pricing section looks:
Tip: Edit form navigation The edit form now has a fixed section at the top as you scroll. This helps you quickly jump to specific sections or specific fields. You can also click on the comment summary at the top of the page and the error summary at the bottom to jump to the relevant field or section. |
New: Packages
Some venues like to promote specific wedding packages on their listing. We found this was confusing couples by being placed in the pricing and/or offers section. To remove all confusion, we have added a new packages section.
Packages are displayed in a pop-up window (similar to offers).
Updated: Offers
Offers are very popular with our venues, but we know they have been cumbersome to manage. They are still displayed in a pop-up similar to before, but to help save you time, we have updated offers so that they have a specific title, description and expiry date.
Offers are automatically removed when they expire.
Tip: Editing lists The edit form now allows you to edit lists and repeated items. You will see an "Add" button for adding new items, and each item will also have a delete button. The top of each item will explain how many you have and how many you are allowed. |
Updated: Late Availability
We hoped this section would be a list of dates, but over time, it became a place to include offers or other text. We have big plans for late availability in our platform refresh, so to prepare for those plans, we have updated this section to limit it to dates only. You can now select your prime dates, and we will display those dates in the late availability popup.
The dates are automatically removed as they pass.
Updated: Contact Details
To reflect the changing use of social media, we now only support links to Instagram. We have removed support for Facebook and Pinterest. Of course, couples can still access these links via your website if you choose to display them.
Updated: Main Text (formerly The Setting and The Vibe)
To improve the readability of the listing, we have changed the main text section from The Setting and The Vibe to eight, more focused sections:
- Setting
- Ceremony
- Reception
- Accommodation
- Food & Drink
- Sustainability
- Local Area
- Getting There
You don't have to complete all sections, but if you provide text, we will add the section to your listing's main area.
Updated: FAQ
We have just updated how FAQs are managed. There are no changes to how we display FAQs.
New: Awards and Notables
We know awards mean a lot to our venues and the teams that work hard every day to achieve recognition. So, we have created a new section for you to list awards you have won or notable mentions in the press (Vogue/Tatler, etc.). This section will be displayed at the end of your main listing section.
New: Alerts
In response to COVID-19, we added a "venue alert" that we manually added to a listing if there was important information. However, we have now replaced this concept with an "Important Messages" section at the end of the listing. You can add information such as "Fully booked for 2024" or "Diary Open for 2026".
Alerts are automatically removed when they expire.
